top 10: summer

hi beautiful friends!

2 posts in a row this week makes me UBER happy! It's really been an overall great week and I welcome it! I mentioned yesterday that I am doing some top 10s and today we are talking my favorites in the summer.

Summer is easily my favorite season and always has been. I don't think I have seasonal depression, but winter definitely doesn't help it. Grey days, frigid temps, horrible winds..ugh! I was made for 75+ weather and I thrive in it! What is y'all's favorite season?!

[in no particular order]

10. Big Brother-
Unfortunately BB only airs in the summer which I hate but at the same time, I love because it gives me something else to look forward to. BB is my guilty pleasure tv for the hot months, it's refreshing to not have a ton of shows on because I want to be outside more but I love having this one to look forward to each week.

9. Tan-
I love me some brown skin, y'all. I used to be very tanorexic which I happily can say I have given up for health reasons and finally wising up to how bad tanning beds are for you. That being said, I have two favorites when it comes to sunless tanning: Banana Boat Sunless Color or Toma's Liquid Spray Tan.

8. Moisturizer-
I don't know about y'all but one of the things I REALLY can not tolerate during the cold months is being dry. EVERYTHING on me gets dry; lips, hands, feet, legs, even my eyes! Ugh it's horrible, so I love the summer months when my skin gets to soak and enjoy the time off of the stinky cold.

7. Popsicles-
My mom says my love of popsicles come from her pregnancy because that's what she lived off of when preggo with yours truly. Our house stays pretty warm because it's an older home and just doesn't have great ventilation so I love on a warm day to get me one or two popsicles [the cheapo kind]. It's a sweet treat that I don't feel guilty for eating either.

6. Sunglasses/Hats-
I will NEVER be able to own expensive sunglasses, you just won't ever see me with them because I go through sunglasses like most people go through tissues. I can not keep a pair but I love them. I have blue eyes too so they are super sensitive to the sun. Target is my go to sunglass hut because they have every shape and color for a cheap price. I am also a hug hat fan: baseball, fedora, floppy, etc!

5. Shorts-
The minute it hits 60 degrees, I am in shorts. They are just so comfy to me and I often find myself wearing them everyday until the fall. They make such cute, modest designs now that makes it easy as I am getting older to still be able to wear them. It's hard to figure out how to dress now that I am in my mid twenties, I never want to look like a tween or a granny so I am always some where in between, ha!

4. Exercise Outside-
I love being able to jog/run/walk outside and when it is cold I just shut down and can't do it outside {treadmill?!} but I definitely feel more motivated when I know I can get my sweat on outside. I love hiking, biking, swimming, anything outdoors...the options are endless!

3. Sandals-
I often find myself wearing sandals, even in cold weather #whoops. I don't know why but I just love them and find them way more comfy. I usually buy a few pairs in the spring and end up wearing them out by the end of summer. I always get my moneys worth!

2. Veggies/Fruits-
Summer fruits and veggies are my favorite! You can make the best and prettiest salads this time of year which makes healthy eating so much easier! Watermelon {my personal fav}, honeydew melon, cantaloupe, strawberries, blueberries, eggplant, tomatoes, summer squash..the list goes on and on.

1. Memory Making/Off Time-
Well this one is easy, people usually have more off time, especially with my hubs being a teacher/coach. I get to see him A WHOLE FREAKING LOT more, we get to make memories by walking, having puppy time, trying new things. We get to spend more family time and enjoy creating new memories with those loves, as well. Family vacations, our anniversary, water fun, beautiful weather...the summer is just my favorite place to be...

now what's yours?!

top 10: tv characters

hi wonderful friends!

I'm here with air in my lungs so I'll call it a good day! Still having great visits with my doctor and getting some more helpful tips on managing my depression. Just 6 weeks in but this last session was the best so that makes me hopeful! Thanking all my blogger friends who continuously check on me and show love from even far way!

I am going to get back to daily meetings with y'all because it helps me and gives me something to look forward to. I thought to start back full time this week I would share a few top 10s with y'all. My schedule is changing a bit so I may be posting at night and hoping my morning friends can check it out when they log on every morning. {sorry if this is an inconvenience but just trying it out this week}

On this Tuesday, I am talking all things tv characters. These top 10 are my favorites...I'm not saying they have to be y'alls but they have a special place in my heart. Y'all know by now that I am quite the TV lover and if you didn't check out my TV addict page. Let me in on some that would be on your list or a character that has a special place in your heart!

10. Jesse Pinkman-
I'm sure it's awkward for people to think that a show about drugs is one of my favorites, to make things even more awkward my brother and I actually loved this show together. It will always have a special place in my heart and Jesse is by far my favorite character for the show. He reminds me a lot of Micah, just a lost dude. In alot of ways that is where Micah and I were a lot alike, I'm just hoping I can find my way for the both of us.
"You either run from things or face them, Mr. White."

9. Schmidt-
Ohhh mylanta, I don't think there is a character that makes me laugh more! I can turn on New Girl and within the first few seconds of Schmidt being on my screen, I'm usually laughing out loud. I know New Girl humor isn't for everyone but it definitely reminds of the 2010s version of Friends.
It is really just a witty, brillant character.

8. President Bartlet-
I mean if President Bartlet was real, I would vote for him every term. I am tempted to just write in his name at the election coming up ha. There isn't an episode where he doesn't say something that motivates/inspires me. He is such a great leader and I feel like that's what we're lacking now is just great leaders. Not talking about anyone specific but I just don't see great leaders currently, not my generation, not the generation coming up and not the generation before me. Let's lead, people and follow the great examples from leaders in the past. We care too much what people will say or think if we say strong statements now and that doesn't make a leader. Let's say how we feel and let's be honest. President Bartlet is a great character to watch if you need some motivation!
"In all the talk about democracy, we forget it's not a democracy. It's a republic. People don't make the decisions, they choose the people who make the decisions."

7. Andy Taylor-
I mean if you didn't want to live in Mayberry growing up and have Sheriff Taylor be your dad, then I don't know how to relate to you. This easygoing spirit influenced my childhood tremendously and I think he reminds everyone of their own granddad. Andy is the kind of guy that can pull anyone out of a bad mood and I dream of the day when I can sit on my front porch and strum a guitar with my family while we all sing like they did. Nostalgia feels so good.

6. Raymond Reddington-
I love the complicated relationship with him and Liz on the show, who I really think is his daughter but nothing has been confirmed and no this isn't a spoiler. I have a very conflicted relationship with my dad as well so I can relate. In the end Red cares for Liz above all else which I can't relate to but I certainly admire. I like to think of myself as just as loyal.
"Revenge isn't a passion. It's a disease. It eats at your mind and poisons your soul."

5. Chandler Bing-
Y'all should know I was going to have a FRIEND on here. Chandler is not only my favorite but the one that is most like me. His self-deprecating humor is right in line with mine and his awful luck with things. I would happily be Misses Chandandler Bong. [< if you don't get this, we can't be friends.]

4. Omar Little-
It's another ironic show that my brother and I watched together. One summer when our AC was broke in the house, we spent all summer binging this show and sweating. It is a memory that now I will hold dear and this was our favorite from the show. He does what he wants, when he wants and is never afraid. He describes himself as Robin Hood and I definitely agree, ha but a grown up version of Robin Hood.
"You come at the king, you best not miss."

3. Lorelai Gilmore-
You would think I would've picked Rory since she was the daughter and well, I am a daughter with no babies yet but Lorelai is definitely more my speed. Also, she is the one person that justifies my tv addiction. Yay for netflix brining it back!
"I can be flexible. As long as everything is exactly the way I want it, I'm totally flexible."

2. Coach Taylor-
You realize you're getting older when you find yourself relating to the parent characters more than the teenagers ha! It wasn't a hard decision to put him on the list instead of Tami [his wife] even though I do wholeheartedly relate to her as a coach's wife. The main thing I love about coach is the way he coaches and of course, finding his story relatable is another reason that he is on my list. I just love the whole Friday Night Lights story and he is such a terrific lead character.
"I said you need to strive to be better than everyone else. I didn't say you needed to be better than everyone else. But you gotta try. That's what character is: It's in the try."

1. Lucy Ricardo-
LUCY, Lucy. My first girl crush, I am never afraid to say I have quite the girl crushes but Lucy is easily my first. I was very sick as a kid and didn't get to spend a lot of time outdoors, it just so happened that my parents had every I Love Lucy episode on VHS so I do think that is where my sense of humor came from being that I grew up with her as one of my biggest influences. I love the real Lucy just as much as the Lucy on the show too. She was such an iconic character for women.

Okay, so we just finished The Blacklist and loved it so what should I watch next?!

So glad being here with y'all!
